The history of the brand dates back to 1907 in England.
David Desmond Archibald, whose family owned a laboratory for manufacturing fine saddles, starts his diplomatic career for the United Kingdom.
During his service in Africa and India he meets famous personalities like Denys Finch-Hatton, Thomas Edward Lawrance, Maurice Chevalier and Winston Churchill… who become friends and loyal customers for the leather accessories manufactured by his family’s laboratory. He also acquires an estancia in Argentina where he spends time with Carlos Gardel. During all these years also his ability in the Polo sport becomes notorious.
After receiving many enthusiastic comments and requests for the hand-made products of his family, in
1946 David Desmond launches a new collection of luxury leather bags, cases and accessories inspired by the world of Polo, which will be used by royal families and famous personalities around the world. The new collections are branded “Diamond D” after the toughness that David Desmond had demonstrated both as Polo player and diplomatic officer. This activity ceases only 10 years later leaving an exclusive mark for its luxury style and quality.
In 1979 a precious book of original Diamond D designs is found in the Rochester archive library and auctioned.
The prestigious brand “Diamond D” is now getting back to life with new license agreements to launch again luxury travel goods, accessories and footwear which will appeal for luxury and sporty style, as the best tradition of the Polo sport.
